Disc Golf Masters Championships

The Victorian Masters Series players took to the road again on September 5, this time to Mathison Park in Churchill on the excellent course located here.

With the threat of some nasty weather and possible lightning, 12 players took to round one with a 13th joining for round two.

Six locals took to the course with a majority of them having their first taste of disc golf competition, and learning a lot from the more seasoned players.

Outside of a 20 minute period early in round two when the heavens opened and the wind roared through, it turned out to be excellent conditions for disc golf.

The swampy area at 15 was handled well by the players.

Both MA50 and MA55 (indicates the age of the player) saw an exciting battle between two players each with the final result after two rounds being one shot difference with both divisions seeing a lead change over the final few holes.

Between rounds of the Victorian Masters Series, a free “Come and Try” session from 11.30 am to 1.00 pm was available at Mathison Park. The session was open to people of all ages and abilities, providing the perfect opportunity for anyone who has been curious about disc golf to give it a go. Experienced players were on hand to provide discs, basic instruction and guidance throughout the session. Easy to learn, affordable and suitable for the whole family, disc golf is a great way to combine fun, fitness and community. Unfortunately, the threat of bad weather seemed to put off any attendees.

Keep your eyes open though for further event of disc golf held in the park for another opportunity to have a go.

With one round left to go in the Victorian Masters Series 2026 it could come down to who turns up for the event, so let's hope players turn out to make it an exciting finish to the season.
